Barbara Ellen Sowers Boone, 63, of Indianapolis, passed away December 9, 2017 at home with her family by her side. She was born April 5, 1954 to Betty M. and Robert L. Sowers.

Barbara attended Speedway schools and graduated from George Washington high school. She was a hair dresser, dog groomer and trainer, ordained minister. After working as an activity’s director at a nursing home in Crawfordsville, she attended school to become a nursing home administrator. She was an administrator for several nursing homes and senior communities. She had several hobbies and was a very creative when it came to crafts. She loved the outdoors. She enjoyed camping, fishing, bird watching and travel.

Barbara was preceded in death by her beloved son, Marcus Shane; father and mother; brother, Robert J Sowers; nephew, Paul Jason Ikemire; great-nephew, Aaron Scott; grandparents; as well as several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

She is survived by her sisters, Patti J, (Rex) Ikemire and Deborah K. Savage; nieces, Regina, Dawn, Allecia, Heather, and Lacey; nephew, Eric; 7 great-nieces; 5 great-nephews and several great-great-nieces and nephews.

Barbie was loved dearly and thought of greatly. She will be missed immensely.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
